Highly Efficient Elliptic Curve Crypto-Processor with Parallel GF(2) Field Multipliers
نویسنده
چکیده
This study presents a high performance GF(2) Elliptic Curve Crypto-processor architecture. The proposed architecture exploits parallelism at the projective coordinate level to perform parallel field multiplications. In the proposed architecture, normal basis representation is used. Comparisons between the Projective, Jacobian and Mixed coordinate systems using sequential and parallel designs are presented. Results show that parallel designs using normal basis gives better areatime complexity (AT) than sequential designs by 33-252% which leads to a wide range of design tradeoffs. The results also show that mixed coordinate system is the best in both sequential and parallel designs and gives the least number of multiplications levels when using 3 multipliers and the best AT when using only 2 multipliers.

New processor architecture for elliptic curve encryption is proposed in this paper. The architecture exploits projective coordinates to convert GF(2) division needed in elliptic point operations into several multiplication steps. The processor has three GF(2) multipliers implemented using bit-level pipelined digit serial computation. It is shown that this results in a faster operation than usin...

This paper presents two efficient implementations of fast and pipelined bit-parallel polynomial basis multipliers over GF (2m) by irreducible pentanomials and trinomials. The architecture of the first multiplier is based on a parallel and independent computation of powers of the polynomial variable. In the second structure only even powers of the polynomial variable are used. The par...

As a public key cryptography, Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) is well known to be the most secure algorithms that can be used to protect information during the transmission. ECC in its arithmetic computations suffers from modular inversion operation. Modular Inversion is a main arithmetic and very long-time operation that performed by the ECC crypto-processor. The use of projective coordinate...
